Job Description

Osborne Richardson is seeking a Sustainability and Climate Change Officer for a 6-month contract in East London. The role involves assessing planning applications, promoting sustainability, negotiating carbon offset payments, and collaborating with developers. Strong communication skills are essential for liaising with various stakeholders. Candidates should have a relevant town planning qualification and at least 2 years of experience in planning policy or sustainability development.
Our client is a thriving borough in East London Borough who are undergoing considerable transformation and regeneration. They have a vacancy for a Sustainability and Climate Change Officer to join them for an initial 6 month contract.

You will join their Conservation, Design & Sustainability Team and you will be responsible for assessing a range of planning applications, promoting sustainability and climate change within Planning as you do so. In this role you will be required to work closely with developers as you will negotiate S106 Carbon Offset payments and assist them in developing energy strategies.

Strong communication skills are essential as you will act as a single point of contact for all matters involving climate change and sustainability. On a daily basis you will be dealing with senior managers, a wide range of stakeholders and the general public, explaining complex and new approaches to sustainability within development management and policy development.

The successful candidate will need a relevant town planning degree level qualification and a minimum of 2 years experience in either Planning Policy or sustainability development. You will need to be confident dealing with external contacts, in particular representatives from developers working in the Borough. You will need good financial management skills and be able to organise and manage complex data in order to support the delivery of projects to a high standard.
