This role involves working globally (partnering with the project team and the Sourcing and Procurement groups) to develop and execute action plans aimed at reducing Scope 3.1, (Purchased Goods and Services), Scope 3.4 and 3.9 (transportation) and Scope 1 and 2 emissions (direct and indirect energy).

2. ESG Data Reporting and Assurance

Lead the collection, validation, and management of ESG data across the full value chain. This includes collaborating with the project team and the Sourcing and Procurement groups to support the deployment of a supplier platform (e.g. SEDEX, NAVEX, Eco Vardis) to ensuring accurate reporting of supply‑chain data.

Essential functions & accountabilities:

Support sustainable energy procurement across CooperVision, including the tracking and reporting of performance and progress.
Drive the development and integration of sustainable business practices throughout the supply chain to improve environmental and social outcomes.
Evaluate sustainability risks and opportunities within the supplier base and support suppliers in enhancing their reporting quality and reducing their impact.
Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that support long-term sourcing strategies balancing sustainability, cost, and risk.
Identify and assess alternative supply sources and collaborate with key stakeholders to introduce them where appropriate.
Develop and deliver reporting to leadership on key areas, including sustainability risks and mitigation actions.
Champion best practices in sustainable procurement and supply chain management, recommending and implementing strategies to strengthen performance and resilience.
Support the development and execution of sourcing strategies for new and existing goods and services to ensure reliable, ethical, and sustainable supply.
Ensure full compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards across all procurement activities.

About you:

We are looking for someone with:

More than five years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, or sustainability roles at a senior level, ideally within a relevant industry such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, or fine chemicals.
Experience leading or supporting sourcing and tender processes for complex categories (e.g. energy, utilities, or strategic services), including supplier selection and commercial evaluation.
Proven experience driving supplier improvement initiatives, delivering measurable enhancements across performance, sustainability and cost.
Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end supply chain including key dependencies, risks and sustainability considerations.
Experience working with Supply Chain and ERP/MRP systems, with the ability to leverage data to support decision making and performance tracking.
Experience influencing cross‑functional stakeholders to embed new processes, standards, or frameworks (e.g. sustainability, risk, compliance).
Experience working within a regulated industry is preferred.
