Job Description
CBRE is seeking a Sustainability Program Manager in Seattle, WA, to lead sustainability initiatives across a leased real estate portfolio. The role involves managing sustainability and safety programs, coordinating with landlords and stakeholders, and supporting corporate sustainability goals, including achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. Responsibilities include program planning, analytics, reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulations. A Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of relevant experience are preferred.
About the Role
As a CBRE Sustainability Program Manager, you will lead and coordinate functional sustainability initiatives focused on environmental performance, safety, and operational excellence across a primarily leased real estate portfolio. This role partners closely with landlords, internal stakeholders, and service providers to deliver sustainability and safety programs aligned with CBRE’s long-term strategy, including the organization’s goal to be carbon neutral by 2040.
This position sits within the Program Management function and is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering sustainability and safety programs aligned with broader enterprise initiatives.
What You’ll Do
Lead cross-functional sustainability and safety programs from initiation through completion using formal project and program management methodologies. Partner with landlords and property managers to coordinate sustainability initiatives across leased sites, including data collection, performance improvements, and compliance activities. Support and advance corporate sustainability goals, including progress toward carbon neutrality by 2040. Manage sustainability analytics and reporting, including energy, emissions, waste, water, and ESG-related metrics. Prepare internal and external sustainability reports, dashboards, and scorecards to communicate progress, risks, and opportunities. Conduct benchmarking analyses for real estate services and sustainability performance against industry standards and peers. Oversee safety-related programs, including ergonomics initiatives, workplace safety tracking, and corrective action reporting. Develop, implement, and report on safety and sustainability programs to ensure continuous improvement and regulatory alignment. Coordinate activities across internal teams, landlords, and suppliers to ensure timelines, deliverables, and performance targets are met. Monitor program progress, identify risks and issues, and escalate as needed to ensure successful delivery. Create and maintain routine program documentation, including project plans, schedules, Gantt charts, and status reports. Perform financial, operational, and business evaluations related to sustainability and safety initiatives. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, landlords, and vendors in support of program objectives. Interpret business and technical documentation to provide data-driven insights and recommendations. Apply in-depth knowledge of sustainability practices, safety programs, and project management principles to deliver innovative, scalable solutions. Provide informal coaching and guidance to project participants by sharing best practices and subject-matter expertise. Lead by example and model behaviors aligned with CBRE RISE values; influence outcomes and build consensus without formal authority. Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 5–8 years of relevant experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. PMP or PgMP certification preferred. Experience managing sustainability programs in a corporate real estate or facilities environment, preferably with leased assets. Working knowledge of sustainability reporting, analytics, and benchmarking, including ESG-related metrics. Experience supporting carbon reduction strategies or long-term sustainability goals is strongly preferred. Familiarity with workplace safety and ergonomics programs. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners (including landlords) without direct supervisory responsibility. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate multiple data sources and translate insights into action. Willingness to challenge existing approaches and apply innovative thinking. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive, detail-oriented mindset. Ability to perform moderately complex financial and quantitative analyses, including trend analysis, percentages, and performance metrics. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for Visa sponsorship now or in the future.
