Job Description

Massachusetts Clean Energy is seeking a Sustainability Coordinator in Hingham, MA, to support the implementation of the Climate Action Plan aimed at achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040. The role involves managing energy efficiency and clean energy projects, ensuring compliance with sustainability directives, and developing strategies to reduce carbon footprints. Hingham is on a mission to achieve its 2040 net zero carbon emissions goal! We seek an experienced Sustainability Coordinator to support Climate Action Plan implementation. This is a key role, working across town departments, residential, and commercial sectors to effect change. The successful candidate will provide the leadership and administrative capacity to promote sustainable policies and practices, access funding, and reduce Hingham's carbon footprint.
Job Duties /Responsibilities

Essential job functions include:
• Maintain an inventory of energy efficiency, clean energy, and resiliency projects. Track project impacts, such as reduced operating costs, reduced carbon emissions, and expenditures avoided.
• Develop and maintain an inventory of state, federal, and private-sector resources supporting energy efficiency, clean energy, and resiliency projects.
• Ensure town compliance with all sustainability-related state directives, executive orders, and policies.
• Define, prioritize, execute and monitor energy efficiency, clean energy, and carbon reduction projects, in collaboration with town Departments, the School Department, and the Hingham Municipal Light Plant. Coordinate with all parties to complete audits of current conditions.
• Design and implement new departmental sustainability strategies that boost energy efficiency, utilize clean energy technologies, or reduce carbon emissions. Track strategy impacts, such as reduced operating costs, reduced carbon emissions, and expenditures avoided.
• Build and maintain relationships with resource agencies and define partnerships supporting projects.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, environmental policy, engineering, business, or related degree and four (4) to six (6) years of full-time professional experience in a similar or related role. Municipal experience preferred. The Town may consider equivalent education and experience in determining whether a candidate has met the requisite qualifications.
