POSITION/TITLE: Straw Machine OperatorWORK LOCATION: HigginsvillePOSITION REPORTS TO: Shift SupervisorWORK TYPE: ON SITE JOB SUMMARY:Operates straw extruders and or wrappers in a safe manner, ensuring that only quality product is produced and packaged into finished cases. Responds to equipment malfunctions and operates equipment in a safe and effective manner. Willingly assists other team members as needed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Operates straw extruders and or wrappers in a safe manner, ensuring that only quality product is produced and packaged into finished cases. Responds to equipment malfunctions and operates equipment in a safe and effective manner. Willingly assists other team members as needed. Principle Accountabilities:Adheres to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements; rectify and/or report any and all non-compliance to Management or the SQF practitioner immediately.Ensure all safety rules are followed, reporting any safety concerns to your Supervisor or Plant Manager.Actively supports lean manufacturing activities in the department, and in the plant.Maintains cleanliness in the department according to standard.Check orders to ensure the correct raw material is used in the production process.Operates all machines at production speeds consistently above standard with minimal waste.Continually checks quality and adjusts machine as necessary.Does minor maintenance in the department, including changing filters, adjusting the machines, changing blades, roll changes, die changes, length changes, etc.Mixes raw material in the proper ratiosGrinds scrap straws for reworkTrain new team members standard procedures to perform job duties.Reads and comprehends the job order specifications, length, diameter, color, and straightness.Completes proper paper work throughout the shift, including quality checks, production, labor sheets, etc.Relieves other department team members for breaks and lunch.Uses a fork lift to move raw materials and finished product around the department, and the warehouse.Performs all other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, or Plant Manager.Provision for Absence:In the event of the absence of the Straw Utility / Adjuster due to vacations, the Shift Supervisor will request another Straw Utility/ Adjuster to fill in from another shift. Team Member will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.Team Member will be required to observe and assess information in a fast paced environment.Requires frequent use of a production, manufacturing equipment and/or machinery.Will be required to frequently move/transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds which may require frequent bending, twisting and reaching motions.Team Member may be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time.Team Member may be required to stand for long periods up to 8, 10 or 12 hours shifts.Team Member may be required to talk, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch. WORK ENVIRONMENT (Manufacturing Plant):The characteristics listed below are representative of the work environment typically encountered by an individual while performing the essential duties of a position in our manufacturing plants. Note that office positions located within our Manufacturing Plants often require some plant floor presence throughout the day so these work environment details may not always apply, they should still be noted. Work space is one that contains moving mechanical parts.Requires work in an indoor manufacturing environment that may be exposed to extreme heat that is not air conditioned.Work environment contains loud noises and odors that may last for long periods of time or on a continual basis as well as occasional airborne particles.Must wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards at all times.Ability to work an 8+, 10+ or 12+ hour shifts as designated.Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as designated.WinCup reserves the right to revise or update this job description as needed to better comply with the actual essential function of the job requirements as business needs dictate.WinCup is an EEO/AA and E-Verify employer.
