Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems Architect – Systems Architect (25-095) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position, which will be in Colorado Springs, CO., or Huntsville, AL., is crucial to our mission and we are excited to welcome a new member to our team. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities. The candidate will be part of an integrated architecture & systems engineering team on a multi-company teammate program, tasked with defining the operational, physical, functional, and technical architecture necessary to describe the vision and desired capabilities of an evolving C2BMC effort. Essential Functions: Analyzing high-level needs through a structured and logical approach, refining the need into an integrated set of hardware and software. Designing and developing new systems and integrating existing systems. Communicating and interacting with the customer and related system programs, including presenting technical approaches and findings in written and oral form. Leading portions of these activities: Designs, Develops, Oversees system architectures, including complex systems and systems design activities. Serves as the focal point for the development and communication of the system architecture. Ensures conversion of mission requirements into total systems solutions that account for the system's design and technology maturity constraints. Develops systems and system element architecture, design, and interface definition. Supports internal and external design reviews. Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies and design and analysis methodologies. Develops models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development.
