Job Description
Invenergy is seeking a Solar Maintenance Technician for the Grimes, IA location. The role involves performing routine maintenance on solar equipment, troubleshooting various mechanical and electrical issues, and managing site vegetation. Candidates should have technical experience, a high school diploma, and be able to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions. The position requires a valid driver's license and may involve travel up to 30% of the time.
Solar Technician
This role involves assisting in the operation and maintenance of the Grimes Solar Energy Center.
Responsibilities:
• Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on all site solar, substation, and associated equipment.
• Manage vegetation to maintain the site according to the vegetation management plan.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues including: Inverter faults, Tracker faults, network communications, ground faults, collection issues, substation issues, and general site performance problems.
• Understand electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic functions of all components of solar sites and associated equipment.
The successful candidate will work a schedule of 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday-Friday (40 hours) with opportunities for scheduled and unscheduled overtime, as well as potential night work. The work schedule may vary during peak maintenance periods.
Requirements:
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of technical experience (electrical, etc.) and/or technical education.
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Willingness to work nights during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
• Capacity to work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Ability to safely climb and work from portable step ladders.
• Capacity to understand directions, follow procedures, and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to move and manipulate objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
• A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.
