Job Description
Green Bay Packaging is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer in Atkins, AR. The role involves coordinating project planning, execution, and closure, providing technical leadership for capital projects, and ensuring compliance with mechanical specifications. Candidates should have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 15+ years of experience in related industries. The position requires effective communication and teamwork, as well as expertise in mechanical codes and project management.
Description Position Overview The primary roles and responsibilities of the Sr. Mechanical Engineer are to coordinate project planning, execution, start-up, and closure according to strict deadlines and budget. This position must work closely with their end customers, whether operations, maintenance, environmental, or some combination of all. They must be able to communicate effectively with all departments from the conception phase all the way through project closure. They must be able to negotiate through differing opinions and personalities, thereby reinforcing a team concept. Responsibilities Required to provide technical assistance and leadership to support capital projects, as well as maintenance, operations, and reliability activities for existing equipment and processes unrelated to a given project. Provides efficient solutions to the deveLine of Progressionment of processes on all stages of a project lifecycle from design, through to installation and final commissioning. Prepares mechanical specifications and performs bid evaluations for new equipment. Reviews vendor drawings for specification compliance. Provides expertise, knowledge and interpretations in mechanical-related codes. Provides engineering support to rerate or repair existing equipment. Monitors work when performed by outside contractor engineers and designers, for specification compliance, timeliness and cost effectiveness. Researches and analyzes design proposals, specifications, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Preparation of estimates for Mechanical Equipment scope, project start-up and troubleshooting, Interfacing with Operations, Vendors, and Construction Contractors throughout design, construction, and startup. Must understand process piping and pumping systems; how to design, troubleshoot, and upgrade. Work in a team environment. High degree of self-motivation and able to work without daily direct supervision. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing departmental needs and goals, up and down the organization. Provide leadership to maintain and improve safe working conditions and maintaining good housekeeping practices. Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 15+ years of experience related to the design, procurement, operation, and maintenance of fixed mechanical equipment in a pulp & paper, chemical, petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment. Good working knowledge of ASME and API codes for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and piping systems, etc. The candidate must have a working knowledge of how projects flow thru various phases, and how to manage each of these phases to completion.
