Senior / Lead Process Engineer - PDP

KC8 Capture Technologies is seeking a Senior / Lead Process Engineer in Melbourne, VIC. The role involves leading a Process Design Package team, managing project specifications, cost estimates, and design packages for licensed technology. Responsibilities include client liaison, cross-functional collaboration, quality control, and project management. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in process or chemical engineering with 12+ years of relevant experience in the chemicals, power, or Oil and Gas industry.
The Senior / Lead Process Engineer will be responsible for developing and managing Process Design Package (PDP) teams, ensuring the successful development of process/project specifications, cost estimates, and design packages for a novel licensed technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and direction to the PDP team, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client requirements.

• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of the PDP phase for assigned projects.

• Possess strong technical knowledge in the field of process engineering design, with a focus on concept, feasibility, pre-FEED and FEED activities.

• Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the concept, pre-FEED and FEED phase, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and ensuring client satisfaction.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines, to integrate all aspects of the project during the concept, pre-FEED and FEED phase.

• Participate in client meetings to present design concepts, progress reports, and address technical queries.

• Create and/or review and approve design documents including equipment datasheets, heat and material balances, PFD’s / PID’s, instruments specifications and plot plans.

• Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness of design deliverables.

• Conduct regular design reviews to identify and address potential issues in a timely manner.

• Work closely with the project controls team to develop and monitor project cost estimates during the concept, pre-FEED and FEED phase phase.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering initiatives without compromising project integrity.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in process or chemical engineering.

• Proven experience (12+ years) in a range of similar process design management roles within the chemicals, power or Oil and Gas industry.

• Prior experience in setting up a FEED team will be viewed favourably.

• In-depth knowledge of front-end engineering processes, standards, and practices.

• Strong project management skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

• Exposure to working on brownfield (retrofit) chemical or process projects will be an added advantage.
