Job Description

The City of Raleigh, North Carolina, seeks a Senior Green Stormwater Infrastructure Operations Maintenance Technician to support GSI maintenance. Responsibilities include operating equipment, conducting maintenance, coordinating with departments, and engaging with the public. About the position

The Senior Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) Operations Maintenance Technician will provide equipment operation support to a newly formed team responsible for GSI maintenance across the city. The City of Raleigh is expanding the role greenspaces and natural drainages play as critical infrastructure to improve surface water quality and protect water resources. The new GSI Maintenance Team is a cross-departmental interdisciplinary team between the Parks and Natural Resources and Raleigh Stormwater divisions. Our goal is to deliver smart stormwater management through nature-based solutions to preserve and protect life, support healthy natural resources, enhance habitats, and complement sustainable and equitable growth for the community. We are seeking an expert equipment operator in the field of GSI maintenance and operations to support this new and innovative team.

Responsibilities
• Serve as equipment operator for the GSI Maintenance Crew, including equipment operation, loading and hauling, and routine maintenance
,
• Implement standard operating procedures to coordinate effective and efficient delivery of work products and GSI maintenance activities
,
• Conduct specialized and routine maintenance of Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs) to proactively identify and remediate maintenance issues that will prolong the life cycle of City assets
,
• Coordinate with staff from multiple City departments to ensure timely and successful inspection and maintenance of SCMs, including completion of work orders
,
• Engage with the public, including youth groups and other volunteers, to assure quality product delivery
,
• Provide programmatic and technical support to ensure the functional management of engineered stormwater solutions
,
• Maintain accurate tracking data in asset management software

Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED and three years of assignment-related equipment operation/driving or specialized maintenance experience
,
• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
,
• Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a satisfactory driving record or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

• NC Erosion and Sediment Control Certification

• NC DOT Work Zone Supervisor Certification

• Knowledge of Green Stormwater Infrastructure principles, applications, and operations, including wetlands, wetland engineering, and ecosystem management

• Knowledge of equipment operations and maintenance, and specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment

• Skills in community engagement, volunteerism, and citizen science programs

• Knowledge of the principles of leadership and ability to direct field operations
