Job Description
Galetech Group is hiring a Senior Executive Planner for its Renewable Energy division, focusing on renewable energy planning applications in Ireland while supporting the UK team. The role involves managing planning applications, providing technical input, and contributing to planning strategy across jurisdictions. Candidates should have a relevant planning qualification and 5-7 years of experience in renewable energy projects. The position is flexible, allowing work from either Ireland or the UK.
Galetech Energy Services (GES), part of the Galetech Group, is the multi-disciplinary renewable energy consultancy and services division of Galetech Group. We provide best-in-class consenting support, technical advisory, project management, and engineering services from feasibility through to construction and operation.
Galetech Energy Services is seeking a Senior Executive Planner to support the continued growth of its renewable energy planning team in Ireland, while also providing structured support to the company's expanding UK renewables planning function.
This role will primarily focus on the delivery of Irish renewable energy planning applications and will be aligned with the Irish planning team. In addition, the successful candidate will act as a senior technical resource to the UK planning team, supporting project delivery, planning strategy, and knowledge-sharing across jurisdictions. The role location is flexible and may be based in Ireland or the UK.
This is a senior, delivery-focused role offering exposure to complex renewable energy projects and the opportunity to contribute to the development of Galetech's cross-jurisdictional planning capability.
About the role:
Lead and manage planning applications for renewable energy projects in Ireland, including onshore wind and solar PV
Provide senior technical input and peer review for UK renewable energy projects, supporting the UK planning team as required
Contribute to planning strategy across Irish and UK projects, ensuring consistency and best practice
Coordinate with local authorities, statutory consultees, landowners, and other stakeholders
Prepare, review, and sign off planning reports, planning statements, environmental screening and scoping reports, and supporting documentation
Monitor and interpret Irish and UK planning and environmental policy and advise project teams accordingly
Support project programming, workload management, and delivery across the planning team
Mentor and support executive and graduate planners, contributing to skills development and technical standards within the team
Collaborate with colleagues across Galetech Energy Services and the wider Galetech Group on multi-disciplinary projects
The ideal candidate will be a professionally qualified planner with solid experience in renewable energy development and a strong track record of delivering planning applications in Ireland.
Essential requirements:
IPI and/or RTPI-accredited planning qualification or demonstrable eligibility for membership (mandatory)
A relevant third-level qualification in planning or a related discipline
Typically 5-7 years' experience in the planning and development of renewable energy projects
Strong understanding of the Irish planning system, with some exposure to or interest in UK planning processes
Experience working within a consultancy, developer, or local authority environment
Ability to manage projects independently and provide senior technical input to project teams
Proven ability to deliver complex planning applications in Ireland
High-quality report-writing, analytical, and organisational skills
Confident engagement with planning authorities and statutory consultees
Ability to mentor and support junior planners
Collaborative approach and comfort working across jurisdictions
Full clean driving licence and access to own transport
Please note: this is a professional planning role. Experience limited to project planning, engineering planning, or construction programming without a recognised IPI and/or RTPI-accredited planning qualification will not meet the requirements of this position.
What we offer:
Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
Reimbursable business expenses
Defined contribution company pension
Permanent role with a 6-month probation period
Opportunities for continued professional development and career progression
Exposure to renewable energy projects across Ireland and the UK
