Job Description
Pipeworks Studios is seeking a Senior Environment Artist to contribute to an AAA project, focusing on environment design, modeling, and texturing. Responsibilities include creating environments, collaborating with the Project Art Director and other teams, and staying updated on techniques. Required skills include experience with Maya/Max and Unreal 5, along with strong communication and problem-solving abilities. This position offers remote work flexibility.
About the position
Join Pipeworks Studios and make your mark on the gaming industry as a Senior Environment Artist on an exciting AAA project. The Senior Environment Artist will work closely with the Project Art Director to support various projects on their environment design, modeling, and texturing needs with styles ranging from cartoony to realistic.
Responsibilities
• Create environments for individual projects, as needed
,
• Work with the Project Art Director to determine project requirements, then research, develop, and implement it in engine
,
• Work within an environment POD creating AAA level content
,
• Research and stay up to date on current techniques and utilize most relevant processes for each task
,
• Work with design to determine level flow and how it pertains to environments
,
• Work closely with Technical Artist to develop new or improved techniques to improve quality and efficiency
,
• Work with other departments as needed
,
• Work independently and provide accurate time estimations for project planning
,
• Work effectively with other artists and engineers to achieve project goals
,
• Solve problems to the benefit of the project/team
Requirements
• Understanding of Maya and/or Max
,
• Unreal 5 experience is required; familiarity with Unity is also preferred
,
• Ability to create environment textures within tools such as Substance Designer
,
• Ability to create or work off of environment concepts that are in various stages of completion
,
• Ability to consider suggestions and come up with creative solutions
,
• Understanding of what tasks fall to art vs. design
,
• Ability to keep a clear and consistent schedule
,
• Strong communication ability
,
• Ability to give strong estimates for project planning
,
• Understanding of bug fixing and investigation
,
• Any degree or certification in relevant field or equivalent work experience
,
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
Nice-to-haves
• Ability to use Zbrush
,
• Ability to provide FX
,
• Ability to whitebox levels
