SAIC is looking for a Senior Energy Storage Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Engineer (Systems or Electrical) will provide engineering design, development, and systems integration support for DoW Power & Energy storage shipboard system acquisition programs. Develop program documentation for systems development, testing, implementation, and life cycle management for existing and new power and energy systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Characterizing large-scale Li-ion battery performance criteria, developing failure modes, test planning, fire mitigation and suppression concepts, prototyping battery-agnostic containment solutions, and evaluating other alternative energy storage system viability.
Engineering support and requirements development for electrical, mechanical, and system controls and mitigation options for the system and the interfaces with the integrated shipboard environment
Assist with engineering investigations of power and energy systems, energy storage enclosures and support processes, applying failure and material analysis methods, including non-destructive and destructive analysis for lithium-ion and silver-zinc chemistry energy storage systems, enclosures and mitigation systems
Investigate and review commercially developed studies, analysis, evaluations, and assessments provided to the Government
Support of DoW acquisition and acquisition management elements
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and five or more years of experienceExperience with support of DoW systems design, development, testing, and performance evaluation processesInterim secret clearance with the ability to obtain a secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance processUS Citizenship required
