Role Overview:

Seasonal Environmental Assistants should expect to work primarily in an office setting with field days during the summer season. They will be responsible for managing project items as assigned which could be comprised of Early Coordination Letters, Coordination Review, preparation of Red Flag investigations and more in relation to the NEPA Process. The best candidate will have experience in drafting technical documentation, some field experience, and time management skills.

Location:

This position is located in INDOT’s Fort Wayne District.

Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $16.24 an hour.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:
• Collects, researches, and digitizes environmental data
• Collects and analyzes field data
• Prepares environmental documents for various INDOT projects, including the development and coordination of environmental related reports
• Ensures compliance with federal & state regulations
• Provides related technical assistance in development & maintenance of tracking logs using data base management systems

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
• Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Currently enrolled or recent graduate of an Environmental or closely related (e.g. geology, archaeology, natural resources, ecology, etc.) program.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
