Secondary Science Teacher - Alexander Central High School General Statement of Job
Alexander Central High School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic High School Science Teacher. The primary focus of this position will be Earth and Environmental Science, with the potential to teach a few sections of Biology depending on the applicant’s background knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering scientific inquiry, promoting academic rigor, and preparing students for future success in a supportive and safe learning environment.
Qualifications Valid North Carolina teaching license in the appropriate high school science subject areas or eligibility to obtain one. Strong background knowledge in Earth and Environmental Science, with proficiency to instruct Biology courses. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Commitment to supporting diverse student learning pathways.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans for Earth and Environmental Science courses, and designated Biology classes. Plan, prepare, and safely set up instructional laboratory experiments incorporating diverse, hands‑on science activities. Utilize data‑driven instruction to monitor student progress and maximize academic achievement on school goals.
Maintain a well‑organized, safe, and positive classroom environment conducive to student learning and engagement. Collaborate effectively with the science department, school administration, and parents to support student growth. Ensure equitable treatment of all students; interact effectively with students, co‑workers, parents, and community.
Maintain confidentiality of student and school personnel information. Evaluate the academic and social growth of students and keep appropriate records. Organiz
