Conservation Legacy

This position is part of the Division of Resources at White Sands National Park. The purpose of this role is to assist staff in treating and removing exotic plants, as well as perform maintenance, repair, and construction of park trails, fencing, and urban landscapes.
Job Description:
• Assist staff with identifying priority sites for treatment/removal of exotic plants.
• Participate in the removal process, including tasks determined by your ability to obtain an NM pesticide operating/technician license.
Carpentry:
• Maintain and construct fencing using a variety of tools associated with carpentry.
• Transport tools, materials, employees, vehicles, and equipment to job sites and trailheads.
• Operate power wheelbarrows, trailers, UTVs (Utility Terrain Vehicle).
Physical Requirements:
• Lift 50 pounds and hike up to 10 miles in a day.
• Ability to navigate rough terrain and operate office equipment, telephone, and computer.
Responsibilities:
• Work under the direction of a maintenance worker leader or supervisor.
• Use proper tools and materials for project work assignments based on instructions received and own judgment.
