Description of Work Unit: Colorado State University is a premier public research institution, with over 34,000 students and a focus on sustainability. The Department of Mechanical Engineering at CSU is a key player in the universitys academic landscape. With 46 faculty members, 13 staff members, 1,000 undergraduate students, and 150 graduate students, it stands as one of the largest and most productive departments on campus.

Position Summary: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University (CSU) is seeking a Research Associate in Sustainability Analysis. The selected individual will work with the Principal Investigator at CSU. The position will include the following:

Research: Focus on sustainability research, emphasizing techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA). Develop engineering process models to evaluate economic and environmental impacts. Projects include a novel wastewater treatment system and assessing the economics of fusion first wall materials.

Mentoring: Mentor graduate students in collaboration with the PI, aiding in research and professional development.

Dissemination: Generate and disseminate journal articles, conference publications, and internal presentations.

This is a 12-month full-time position (with appropriate benefits: healthcare, medical, dental, vision, retirement).

Required Job Qualifications:
• MS in STEM field.
• Four years of work-related experience.
• Demonstrated experience with system modeling.
• Experience with life cycle assessment and techno-economics applied to wastewater treatment.
• Experience with life cycle assessment and techno-economics applied to algal biorefining.
• Experience in water quality trading and carbon credits.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not sponsor a visa for this position.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
