Job Description

Basic Functions

Ensures the quality of manufactured product by performing required measurements, inspecting ware for defects, and accurately completing all associated documentation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Supervise and provides direction to floor level quality technicians.
• Performs all job duties per most recent cGMP rules and guidelines.
• Performs quality inspections for dimensions, attributes, and function throughout production runs.
• Effectively utilizes the available tools by reading and understanding product drawings, and packaging specification sheets, and using instruments such as calipers, dial/digital indicator gages, comparator, and any other required tools.
• Prints out Quality Inspection Plans (QIPs) in order to verify correctness and perform inspections properly.
• Completes documentation of findings, inspection, test results and quality-related data.
• Reports all non-conformances to Production Supervisor or Process Technician and prepares associated paperwork.
• Assists in determining the source and resolution of quality problems. Participates in root cause analysis investigations of defects to prevent reoccurrence.
• Interacts and responds to inspection system data.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Responsible for following Good Manufacturing Practices and any other applicable Prerequisite Programs associated with the Food Safety System

Skill Requirements/Work Environment
• Must have knowledge of gauges, digital/dial gages, calipers, and paperwork.
• Must have excellent vision and meticulous handling skills, ability to communicate both orally and in writing, ability to read and interpret written documents when required, and average math skills are required.
• An equivalent combination of experience, education and training, which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities of this classification. Must successfully complete all required company training and certification before progressing to the next level of proficiency.
• While performing duties in this classification, the employee is regularly exposed to working near moving mechanical parts/equipment and vibration. The employee is regularly exposed to medium noise in the work area.
• Must wear the proper PPE and required clean room smocks, gloves, etc.

Education & Experience Required

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent on the job experience.

Minimum of 2-4 years experience as quality technician
