• What does your day at GIP look like?
The Quality Control Technician will be responsible testing, evaluating and reporting Asphalt, Concrete and soil samples to support all aspects of quality control under the supervision of project managers, supervisors or scheduling coordinators.
- Inspect the quality construction materials (aggregates, concrete and asphalt).
- Review documents and specifications.
- Maintain daily check list diary for laboratory activities.
- Report any non-conformance concerns related with construction material.
- Execute tests in the laboratory on construction materials to assess their quality.
- Prepare and collect Aggregates and asphalt samples for laboratory testing.
- Perform compaction testing by Nuclear Densimeter.
- Concrete testing and casting samples for lab testing an asset.
- Ensure accuracy of test data.
- Educate and train new staff if needed.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory testing equipment.

- Diploma/Degree - Civil Engineering Technology / Construction Management an asset.
- CCIL Certification for Asphalt, Concrete and, or aggregate an asset.
- Previous Industry or relatable experience an asset.
- Knowledge of OPSS/ASTM/MTO LS testing procedures an asset.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power point.
- Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
- Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
- Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Demonstrate versatility and resourcefulness in overcoming business challenges.
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Oshawa, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

- Secondary School (preferred)
• Experience:
- Quality Control: 2 years (preferred)
