QA Technician - 2nd Shift

Urban Farmer LLC is seeking a QA Technician for the 2nd Shift in Manteno, IL. The role involves testing food products and ensuring compliance with quality standards, requiring strong leadership and teamwork skills. Duties include monitoring quality checks, inspecting packaging, and conducting GMP inspections. The position is full-time, pays $20–22 per hour, and requires working in a manufacturing environment with physical demands such as lifting and standing for long periods.
Job Summary:

This role performs testing on food products, ingredients, and production lines ensuring prompt communication of any concerns with other departments regarding compliance to Quality Standards. This individual must be

self-motivated, have strong leadership skills and work well in a Team setting. Additional skills and tasks required to become higher levels. This is a second shift position that requires the ability to work Saturdays as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that all products are food safe & quality ready for all customers.

2. Continuously monitors and conducts routine Quality & Food Safety checks for defects and logs results.

3. Inspects packaging, labels, date codes, shelf life, and performs tests on incoming ingredients and/or

production lines.

4. Conducts daily instrument testing and the tools for up-keep and standardization/calibration of equipment (e.g. ruler, calipers, scales, metal detector/x-ray test pieces).

5. Conducts daily GMP inspections.

6. Pulls product retains from lines as needed for Shelf Life and other analysis programs (sensory,

Production Validation etc.).

7. 90% Quality floor testing and 10% paperwork in office.

Qualified individuals must be at least 18 years old to work in the food manufacturing environment. Ability to follow work instruction and maintain pace of mixing is required. Effective communication skills are needed to maintain batches. This position requires incumbent to have keen attention to detail and experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. The individual must be able to perform each essential job duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

Physical Demands:

1. Work in and out of cold environment.

2. Must wear required PPE and follow sanitation protocol

3. Lift up to 40 lbs.

4. Maneuver around an array of equipment that may include: bending, stooping, reach above head.

5. Stand for majority of shift, up to 8 hrs. at a time.

Work Environment:

This position works in a manufacturing environment with variable temperature and loud noises from machinery and equipment alarms.
