Under general supervision, is responsible and accountable for the continuous safe and efficient management of a large maintenance department covering electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance, planning and contractor management. Provides leadership, coaching, counseling, advising and teaching to others through day to day contact. Directs, monitors and evaluates performance of direct reports within the reporting organization. Prepares, controls and administers budgets to achieve business results relating to overall performance, cost efficiency and reliability. Coordinates all plant work management activities between the Operations and Maintenance Departments to optimize operational performance goals such as unit reliability, EAF, FAF, EFOR, etc. Ensures work priorities are properly established to achieve operational goals, supporting short term, long term, and outage maintenance plans. Manages equipment outage scheduling to achieve optimum balance between market demands, operational performance, and maintenance resource availability. Provides regular communication with System Energy Coordination office.
Duties of the position
• Provides leadership, coaching, counseling, advising and teaching to others through day to day contact
• Performs the duties necessary to safely and reliably maintain power generation assets
• Directs the maintenance group in developing overall work management philosophy
• Project management including engineering review, project scope development, develop and review technical specifications, analyze controls solutions and evaluate project impact on the facility
• Project management including coordination of project activities across multi-discipline groups necessary in the maintenance, operation and installation of these systems
• Iniates projects as needed to improve station reliability
• Reviews station annual operating budget; recommends new additions, equipment or changes.
• Directs and or assists in Engineering evaluations, Factory Acceptance testing, spare parts review, recommendation and procurement
Basic Requirements
• Degreed candidates must have seven (7) years experience in progressively responsible assignments, demonstrating success in both technical and supervisory positions within power plant maintenance roles
• Non-degreed candidates must have ten (10) years experience in progressively responsible assignments, demonstrating success in supervisory positions within power plant maintenance
• Experience with Boiler, Turbine, Pump, Valve, Switchgear and other power plant equipment maintenance
• Work Management and Asset Management Experience
• Project and Contract Management Experience
Preferred Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or other related discipline from an accredited college and/or university is preferred
• Union experience
• Experience in an Electric Utility, Power Plant Maintenance Team, Transmission or Distribution
• Successful experience participating in and managing work team activities
• Proficient personal computer skills to include Excel and Word
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Results oriented, self motivated, and able to work with limited direct supervision
• Ability to understand one line diagrams, schematics, SAMA logic drawings, Engineering documents, technical manuals and reference materials
• Experience with SAP or similar
• Experience with Asset Management
