Candidates should have a degree in Environmental Science or related field and at least 5 years of mining experience. The position offers a competitive salary and the chance to influence sustainable practices in a dynamic team.
The Company
Globe 24-7 in partnership with an established and dynamic player in Africa’s mineral extraction industry, is seeking qualified professionals to support expanding operations. Our client is focused on sustainable growth and operational excellence, leveraging modern technology and responsible practices to drive production efficiency.

The Role
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all necessary environmental and regulatory permits are secured, maintained, and adhered to, in line with South African mining and environmental legislation. You will also play a pivotal role in ensuring the mine’s operations are environmentally compliant and aligned with industry best practices.

The Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate the mine’s environmental permitting processes, including new applications, renewals, and amendments.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and license conditions (e.g. NEMA, MPRDA, NWA).
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, environmental consultants, and internal stakeholders to facilitate audits, inspections, and reporting.
• Design and implement site-based environmental monitoring programs (e.g. water, air quality, biodiversity).
• Support the development, implementation, and updating of the Environmental Management Programme (EMPr) and associated action plans.
• Monitor environmental performance indicators and ensure timely submission of all statutory and internal reports.
• Provide environmental input into planning, construction, commissioning, and operational activities.
• Engage with communities and local stakeholders on environmental and compliance-related matters where necessary.

The Requirements
• A degree or national diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a mining environment — non-negotiable.
• Sound knowledge of South African environmental and mining regulations.
• Demonstrated experience in environmental permitting and compliance management.
• Hands-on, site-based experience during the transition from project development into operations will be highly regarded.
• Strong communication, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

The Rewards
• A competitive remuneration package.
• A hands-on and meaningful role during a pivotal transition from project phase to full operations.
• The opportunity to embed systems and processes that will shape long-term compliance and sustainability practices.
• Exposure to a dynamic, fast-paced team environment committed to responsible, efficient, and future-focused mining.
