Logistics Engineer — Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)

Piper Maddox has partnered with a rapidly growing, vertically integrated low carbon fuels platform that transforms organic waste into renewable energy and measurable decarbonization. As the company scales its RNG operations and feedstock network across North America, they're looking for a data-driven Logistics Engineer to design and optimize their regional and national freight transportation networks.




This is a high-impact analytical role for someone who lives at the intersection of freight operations and data. You'll evaluate lane performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and build predictive routing models in a modern Transportation Management System (TMS) — working closely with fleet operations, safety compliance, and dispatch teams to maximize asset utilization and on-time delivery performance.




What You'll Do

Model lane profitability, backhaul opportunities, and multi-stop routing to optimize the freight networkAnalyze large freight datasets (SQL, Python, Excel) to pinpoint transit bottlenecks and fuel inefficienciesBuild Tableau/Power BI dashboards tracking cost-per-mile, empty miles, and driver utilizationForecast seasonal freight volumes and align tractors, trailers, and drivers with regional demandOwn the TMS and driver telematics as technical administrator / super-userDrive Lean Six Sigma improvements across terminal, cross-dock, and drop-and-hook operationsPartner with 3PLs and owner-operators to negotiate spot rates and flex capacity


What You'll Bring

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Research, or another highly quantitative field3+ years of experience in transportation engineering, fleet logistics, or freight network analyticsHazmat certification and/or hazardous materials experienceHigh proficiency with leading TMS platforms (e.g., SAP TM, Oracle OTM, Blue Yonder) and routing optimization toolsAdvanced skills in SQL, Python/R for data analysis, and Excel (macros, pivot tables)Deep understanding of DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, ELD compliance, CSA scoring, and asset-based trucking constraintsStrong root-cause analysis skills with a proven track record of reducing cost-per-mile or increasing trailer utilization
