Job Description

TasNetworks is seeking a Regulation Leader in Hobart, TAS, to align regulatory strategies with company goals and advocate for TasNetworks in the energy sector. This leadership role involves monitoring market developments, developing regulation strategies, and engaging with energy regulators. Candidates should have experience in energy regulation and strong communication skills. The position is permanent, full-time, and offers flexible work arrangements, but it is not fully remote.
About The Role

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced, and strategic individual to join our team as the Regulation Leader. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring that TasNetworks regulatory strategies align with our Company Strategy and deliver value to TasNetworks and our customers.

You will drive energy policy and advocate for TasNetworks’ interests within the rapidly evolving energy sector. You will guide our engagement with national and state energy regulators, ensuring our compliance and strengthening our position within the energy market.

In This Role, You Will
• Monitor market developments and provide strategic insight into regulatory risks and opportunities
• Develop and implement economic and technical regulation strategies that align with TasNetworks’ Company Strategy, ensuring consistency with broader industry objectives and regulations
• Build and maintain effective relationships with key energy policy and regulatory bodies, customers, and industry peers to ensure that TasNetworks’ interests are well-represented
• Influence national and state legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks to benefit TasNetworks and Tasmanian customers, including making submissions on energy policy, regulation, and pricing
• Lead efforts to establish and promote efficient practices for electricity supply industry compliance, and report on regulation and compliance to national and state regulators
• Represent TasNetworks at industry forums and discussions related to energy policy and regulation, ensuring we are shaping the future of Tasmania’s energy sector

About You

You’re a strategic thinker and skilled communicator with knowledge of economic regulation, policy development and compliance. You understand the complexity of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and can translate this into actionable strategy for TasNetworks.

• Experience in energy regulation, policy development, and economic strategy, particularly within the electricity industry.
• Proven ability to lead teams, mentor professionals, and foster a high-performance culture.
• An understanding of energy market frameworks, financial modelling, and economic regulation principles
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• A customer-focused mindset with the ability to clearly communicate regulatory strategy and outcomes.
