Lead Track Engineer

SMEC is seeking a Lead Track Engineer in Australia to oversee trackwork for railway projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include reviewing previous tasks, supervising installations, and providing technical support. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in civil engineering, 20 years of experience, and 15 years in railway tracks, particularly in metro projects. This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities
• Review and, if necessary, modify previous trackwork-related tasks from earlier project phases, ensuring minimal impact on surrounding infrastructure.
• Oversee the supervision, design review, and installation of trackwork for the railway project.
• Monitor and inspect installation progress, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and technical specifications.
• Assess the maintainability of systems, facilities, and equipment related to track installation.
• Support the Client in the testing and commissioning of trackwork upon project completion.
• Provide technical assistance in resolving claims from contractors during manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Assist in system integration for the railway system to ensure seamless operation and functionality.

Key Requirement
• Master’s degree in civil engineering or relevant discipline
• Should have at least 20 years of professional experience
• Should have 15 years of experience in railway tracks especially in metro projects
• Ideal candidates should have demonstrated work experience in the railway/metro Projects financed by multilateral or bilateral development partners/bank
