Aurecon is seeking a Lead Gas Turbine Engineer to support nationally focused projects, with the flexibility to work from anywhere in Australia. The role involves leading gas turbine and reciprocating engine projects, driving technical and commercial outcomes, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to business development. Our Thermal Generation team – a compact group of under 10 specialists – contributes some of the largest fee revenues in our Power Generation group. This team supports major infrastructure programs across Australia and is focused on both growth and mentoring the next generation of engineers.

You’ll join this dynamic and well-connected team working across the full lifecycle of thermal generation projects, including design, review, and performance optimisation, and implementation phase activities. With significant pipeline work and a national reach, we’re looking for passionate engineers who thrive on solving complex challenges and shaping what’s next.

How will your ideas contribute to shaping what’s next?

As our new Gas Turbine Lead Engineer, your role will include:
• Leading or contributing to the development (including design) and implementation phase services of gas turbine and reciprocating engine-based power generation projects.
• Driving key technical, commercial, and performance outcomes for thermal generation clients.
• Supporting the delivery of winning proposals, contributing around 30% of your time to business development.
• Mentoring and training junior engineers in specialised technical areas.
• Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams across Aurecon, as well as with clients and contractors.

What are we looking for from you?

We’re seeking someone who brings deep technical capability and a proactive, client-focused mindset. You’ll need:
• Proven experience with gas turbine and/or reciprocating engine technology.
• Strong balance of plant design and integration knowledge.
• Demonstrated experience delivering energy infrastructure projects in Australia.
• A degree in engineering and registration or eligibility for RPEQ or RPEV.
• Experience in client-facing roles, leading work packages or teams, and training others.
• Familiarity with tools like the Thermoflow GT Pro Software Suite is a plus.

Bonus points if you have experience with hydrogen, grid connections, electrical BOP, or control systems.
