IT Infrastructure Specialist - Cape Town

Globeleq is seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist in Cape Town, South Africa. The role involves developing and maintaining corporate infrastructure for managing power plants across Africa, providing server and software support, and desktop assistance. While the position supports remote sites and requires occasional travel, it is based in the Cape Town office. The job is full-time and does not require a degree.

Globeleq is 70% owned by British International Investment and 30% by Norfund, the development finance institutions of the UK and Norway, and has a proven track record for supporting the ongoing development of the African power sector.

Globeleq’s various generation technologies include gas, wind, solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and geothermal. The company is also actively pursuing new opportunities which are emerging from the energy transition, including desalination projects powered by renewables, as well as green hydrogen and ammonia projects.

Globeleq is hiring an IT Specialist who will take the lead in developing and maintaining the corporate infrastructure supporting the GSAMS team that maintains and manages the power plants throughout South Africa and Africa. The role will be responsible for key server and software infrastructure, as well as escalated desktop support.

The role supports remote sites throughout South Africa, so it would require occasional travel to these sites. The role would also include occasional international travel to Globeleq power plants in Africa.

The position is located at our Cape Town corporate office.
