Description
The Department of Landscape Architecture, R. Wayne Estopinal
College of Architecture and Planning, is seeking prospective
part-time instructors for the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms,
2025-2026. Possible teaching assignments may include introductory
courses, studio courses, or MUD courses.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban
Planning, or related field from an accredited* institution, by date
of appointment
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban
Planning, or related field from an accredited* institution and an
advanced degree
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban
Planning, or related field from an accredited* institution and meet
four of the following criteria:
• Relevant professional licensure (landscape architecture,
architecture, interior design, engineering, planning, etc.)
• Record of discipline-based scholarship or creative work (5+
examples)
• Cumulative 10+ years of professional experience in landscape
architecture or related discipline or 20+ years teaching experience
in a professional degree program
• Cumulative 4+ peer-reviewed professional awards
• Cumulative 4+ invited lectures and/or presentations for
professional work
• Cumulative 2+ leadership roles in professional
organizations
• Membership or certification ( ASLA, AIA, NCARB, APA, etc.;
SITES AP and LEED certification, etc.)
• Or International equivalent
AND
• Professional work experience and/or teaching experience in two
or more of the following landscape architecture areas: design
studio practice, evidence-based design methods, design
communications, interdisciplinary foundational level design,
history, research methods/theory, ecology and the built environment
with a focus on green infrastructure, artificial intelligence and
emerging technologies, landscape engineering, equitable
communities, productive landscapes, design build, and professional
practice.
• Evidence of scholarly and/or professional abilities and
achievements via published or built works, professional reports,
and/or affiliations and service roles with professional
organizations and higher education institutions that can enrich
teaching and learning in the professional curricula.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be
employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
• PhD in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, or
a related field from an accredited institution or related
discipline with an established design practice/research agenda
• Professional licensure
• Exemplary studio teaching experience
• Three to five recent years of experience in landscape
architecture or related practice
• Commitment to collaboration and professional collegiality

The Master of Urban Design ( MUD ) is a STEM -designated, one-year,
post-professional degree, designed in the theory and practice of
public-focused interdisciplinary design for cities, towns,
neighborhoods, and places.
Strategically located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis,
Indiana, the MUD program draws from the richness of the urban
downtown local communities and the interdisciplinary nature of the
Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning ( ECAP ). Students
learn to design urban form while innovatively addressing cultural
and environmental concerns. The MUD program offers immersive,
hands-on experiences with each student participating in studio and
community-based projects, charrettes, and workshops led by an
interdisciplinary team of professional practitioners from top
Indianapolis firms and esteemed ECAP faculty.
