ENGIE India is seeking an Indirect Procurement Lead in Pune, Maharashtra. This role involves leading procurement strategies for indirect spend categories, managing supplier relationships, conducting negotiations, ensuring compliance, and collaborating with stakeholders. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree and over 20 years of procurement experience, particularly in indirect sourcing. Responsibilities also include driving cost optimization and sustainable sourcing practices.
Role OverviewThe Senior Manager Indirect Sourcing is responsible for leading the endtoend procurement strategy and operations for all indirect spend categories across the organization. This role will drive category strategy development, supplier negotiations, cost optimization, contract management, policy compliance, and supplier relationship management. The position requires strong business acumen, stakeholder management, and proven expertise in strategic sourcing within a dynamic and fastgrowing environment.Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Sourcing & Category ManagementDevelop and implement sourcing strategies for major indirect categories such as IT, HR services, professional services, facilities, logistics, admin, travel, utilities, consulting services for legal and taxation matters, and corporate services.Conduct spend analysis, category intelligence, and identify costsaving opportunities.Lead large and complex RFPs, RFQs, and supplier evaluation processes.2. Supplier Management & NegotiationBuild and manage strategic supplier relationships ensuring performance, quality, and service level adherence.Drive negotiations to secure best commercial terms, total cost of ownership (TCO) benefits, and longterm value creation.Develop supplier scorecards and conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs).3. Contracting & ComplianceOversee contract drafting, review, and approval in coordination with Legal and Finance, IT & HR.Ensure compliance with procurement policies, corporate governance, and regulatory requirements.Maintain contract repository and ensure timely renewals.4. Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate closely with internal stakeholdersHR, IT, Admin, Finance, Operations, and senior leadershipto understand needs and deliver procurement solutions.Act as a business partner, ensuring alignment between sourcing strategy and organizational objectives.5. Cost Optimization & Continuous ImprovementDrive costreduction, process optimization, and efficiency initiatives across indirect spend categories.Implement best practices, market benchmarks, and digital procurement tools.Monitor KPIs: savings, supplier performance, contract coverage, compliance, and cycle time reduction.6. Team Leadership (if applicable)Lead, guide, and develop a team of sourcing professionals.Foster a highperformance, collaborative, and ethics-driven procurement culture.7. ESG & Sustainable Sourcing ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement ESGaligned sourcing strategies to support the companys sustainability, climate, and ethical procurement goals.Ensure supplier selection includes evaluation of environmental impact, carbon reduction initiatives, labour practices, safety standards, and ethical compliance.Drive adoption of green procurement practicesenergyefficient products, recyclable materials, lowcarbon services, and environmentally responsible suppliers.Required Qualifications & ExperienceBachelors degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or equivalent (MBA preferred).20+ years of experience in procurement/strategic sourcing with at least 5 years in indirect sourcing.Experience in energy/infrastructure/renewables/manufacturing sector preferred (customizable).Strong understanding of sourcing methodologies, category management, and contract law.Proficiency in eprocurement tools, ERP systems (SAP B1, SAP Ariba, SAP Hana /Oracle), and MS Office.Key Skills & CompetenciesStrong negotiation and commercial acumen.Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.Analytical mindset with proficiency in datadriven decision-making.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge of ESG, sustainable procurement, and supplier diversity is a plus.Ethical, transparent, and committed to compliance and governance.KPIs & Success MeasuresAchieved cost savings and valuecreation metrics.Category strategy implementation effectiveness.Supplier performance and relationship management outcomes.Internal stakeholder satisfaction.Policy compliance and audit readiness.Team capability development (if leading a team).
