Royal HaskoningDHV is seeking a Graduate Climate Change Consultant in North Sydney, Australia. We are an independent, international engineering and project management consultancy with 140 years of experience. Our professionals deliver services in the fields of aviation, buildings, energy, industry, infrastructure, maritime, mining, transport, urban and rural development and water.
Our Australian environmental team is growing a new climate change team and require additional support to deliver a growing portfolio of work in a number of sectors, across Australia and Asia Pacific. We are growing our products and services in the multiple sectors and in multiple areas under the umbrella of climate transition, namely climate risk and impact assessment, climate risk disclosure, climate adaptation, nature-based solutions, decarbonisation, climate finance etc. We draw upon our companies suite of climate intelligence solution (climate data and modelling).
The work will involve coordination of and/or contribution to proposals and projects of various sizes. It will also involve working with senior team members to develop materials, tools and methodologies in the field. It is likely that the successful candidate will be able to specialise in one or two climate change areas but will be asked to contribute to the growth of business for the group as a whole. You will be expected be able to support projects and business development and assist in the smooth running and continued successful development of the team.
You will be working in a small team initially but with significant growth ambitions. You will have a major impact on our place in the market and our ability to win and execute top projects. You will play a key role in showing and growing our top expertise and will also significantly our profitability and reputation.
Responsibilities
• To support and/or coordinate the delivery of small, medium and large-scale climate projects under the supervision of a Project Manager and/or direction of a Project Director.
• To provide support, as required, to the climate team and other area teams where specialism dictates.
• To make an active contribution to project work report writing, organisation, consultation and project management.
• To remain up to date with policy and legislative developments in climate change.
• In time, to present in both external and internal arenas.
• To assist with proposal preparation.
• To contribute to the implementation of business development and marketing initiatives that deliver within the overall climate transition business development plan and contribute to the development of a client database, business development spreadsheet and oversee the climate contacts in our customer relationship management system.
• To contribute to development of material, methodologies, tools etc. for the climate services.
• Help in the organisation of external client events and assist the Leader of the team in preparation for team meetings.
Your background
• To be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the climate change and resilience sector and the consultancy services that are required.
• Recent graduate in a climate change or related degree with a number of relevant climate change modules
• Report-writing and presentational skills.
• Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative and also to work as part of a comprehensive high-quality team.
