Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Climate Specialist Consultant / Senior Climate Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the research, design, build, validation, and maintenance of global geospatial data products that help our customers make informed decisions about physical and climate risk.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Knowledge Management:
• Conduct scientific and data research and literature reviews for various global perils (climate and non-climate related).
• Foster research and data supplier partnerships and support data partner control.
• Analyse and interpret diverse data/information to make recommendations and support decision-making.
• Participate in knowledge sharing and training activities.
• Build alliances across Advisory Groups, Business Units, and Business Lines.
• Understand and prioritize customer needs.
Domain Expertise:
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on climate models and projections.
• Utilize existing climate science knowledge to develop robust climate change datasets.
Data Processing and Development:
• Support the design of market-leading global multi-peril data products.
• Contribute to the development of global geospatial multi-peril data products within planned time constraints.
• Stay updated with the latest scientific and geospatial data processing methods, tools, and technology.
• Contribute to effort and cost proposal requirements.
Operational Excellence:
• Coordinate projects, communicate effectively, and ensure timely delivery.
• Assist with process optimization, automation, and technical problem-solving.
• Manage data, documentation, and communication responsibilities.
Quality Assurance and Control:
• Maintain high standards for quality and productivity.
• Complete data validation and verification processes.
• Organize peer reviews and third-party checks as necessary.
Support Functions:
• Geospatial data publication and delivery.
• Customer support.
• Sales channel training.
• Business support and sales enablement.
What we are looking for:
Research and Knowledge Management:
• Proficient in scientific research and literature review.
• Skilled in data research, acquisition, and review.
• Experience with feasibility and scoping studies.
Data Processing and Development:
• Expertise in geospatial, tabular, and scientific data manipulation.
• Previous coding skills and proficient in Python for geospatial data processing, data science, and machine learning.
• Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Cloud and big data environments (e.g., Microsoft Azure Databricks).
Domain Expertise:
• Comprehensive understanding of climate science, global and regional climate projections, and climate model outputs.
• Knowledge of meteorology, atmospheric dynamics, GIS, and remote sensing.
Quality Assurance and Control:
• Strong attention to detail and data validation skills.
