Job Description

Exaways Corporation is seeking a Global Director of Climate Services in Greeley, CO, to lead initiatives addressing climate challenges in the agrifood system. Responsibilities include developing strategies for emissions reduction, overseeing climate transition planning, and ensuring compliance with climate regulations. The role involves providing technical expertise, engaging with stakeholders, enhancing climate metrics, and building internal capacity for climate mitigation and adaptation strategies.
Courageous leadership - willingness to tackle planet-size climate challenges in the agrifood system as we work to proactively move toward a more circular and low-carbon food system. Assisting JBS and Pilgrim's sustainability teams and business units in North America, South America, Europe, and Oceania with developing strategies, action plans, and interventions to address scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in the company's full value chain. Leading the climate transition planning activities, including overseeing the execution, accountability reporting, and ongoing improvement of the company's climate mitigation and adaptation plan that meets market and regulatory criteria. Ensuring the company develops and executes an industry-leading climate transition to address its full scope of GHG emissions in alignment with current and emerging climate-related regulatory disclosures. Lead the accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of the company's GHG inventory, and progress towards emissions reduction goals. Providing in-depth technical expertise and advice to our regional teams on relevant carbon accounting standards, GHG quantification methods, and Measurement, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MMRV) approaches. Taking the lead in developing and/or reviewing climate-related methodologies, regulatory policies, and carbon accounting and GHG reductions target setting guidance relevant for companies in the agrifood system. Contributing to the team's engagement with other private- and public-sector, research, and civil society stakeholders on the methods, guidance, and practices to identify viable interventions to reduce GHG emissions and sequester carbon. Climate Metrics, Monitoring and Evaluation Supporting the internal development of GHG accounting systems and processes. Contributing to the development of new climate metrics suitable for company investments. Developing and implementing robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact and effectiveness of climate-related initiatives and investments. Sectoral expertise Providing subject-matter expertise and quantitative analysis on sector-level climate pathways, target-setting, investment or financing activities, and risk management practices, considering relevant climate policies and circumstances, for agriculture in support of the company's climate transition priorities. Process Improvement & Capacity Building Continuously seeking opportunities to enhance processes, methodologies, and tools related to the company's climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, plans, and actions. This includes proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing innovative solutions to drive efficiency and effectiveness. Identifying capacity gaps within and developing strategies to enhance the our global capacity in climate mitigation. This may involve designing and delivering training programs, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing. Thought Leadership Staying abreast of emerging trends, research, and developments in the field of carbon accounting and GHG emissions reduction protocols and methodologies. Collaborating with internal and external scientific communities in related scientific fields (including climate, animal, soil, agronomy, and ecological sciences) to identify opportunities for joint collaboration. Providing thought leadership within and contributing to external forums and conferences to enhance our engagement as a leader in the agriculture sector's contributions towards mitigation climate change. Collaboration and Teamwork Fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment, including by promoting effective teamwork and knowledge sharing among team members. Requirements of the Global Director of Climate Services: Bachelor's degree; graduate degree a plus in a relevant field such as sustainable finance, environmental sciences, business administration, public policy, or environmental economics. Technical Expertise: Demonstrate exceptional technical skills with a minimum of 8 years of full-time relevant professional experience in the following areas: Climate change: Possess expertise in areas such as climate change mitigation, decarbonization, GHG accounting, and climate adaptation/resilience. Working experience with respect to developing and implementing a long-term carbon reduction roadmap. Hands-on experience successfully leading meaningful carbon reduction within a global company is a significant plus. In-depth understanding of global greenhouse gas protocols and science-based carbon reduction methodologies (such as SBTi); knowledge of various reporting standards (such as CDP, DJSI, TCFD, SASB). Understanding of Life Cycle Assessment methodologies related to the carbon footprint for agriculture and food systems. Experience with carbon offsets/insets, developing long-term, high-quality agriculture/forestry partnerships, and leading agriculture-related carbon registry or supply-chain insetting standards is a plus. Agriculture and food system-specific expertise: Relevant experience working in the private sector, preferably agriculture and/or food companies. Policy and Market Knowledge: Exhibit a thorough understanding of key climate change policy and market issues, including the latest developments in the field. Leadership Experience: Demonstrate a track record of leadership in driving climate-related initiatives and projects. Showcase experience in leading teams, managing stakeholders, and influencing decision-making processes. Strategic & Critical Thinking: Demonstrate the ability to think strategically and critically, and provide innovative solutions to complex climate challenges. Show evidence of developing and implementing strategic plans and initiatives that have had a significant impact. Project Management Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in project management, including planning, organizing, and executing climate-related projects. Showcase experience in managing budgets, resources, and timelines effectively. Communication: Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with fluency in other languages being an advantage. Team Player: Show the ability to work collaboratively and interact effectively with clients and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds. Function as a team player, contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment. On going responsibilities for the Global Director of Claim Services: Collaborate with ESG and sustainability team members on data collection, analysis, and reporting methods. Prepare internal and external reports to evidence and/or communicate climate-related initiatives. Participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders regarding environmental and sustainability initiatives.
