Geologist/Environmental Scientist - Mid-Level

Tetra Tech is hiring a mid-level Geologist/Environmental Scientist in Cincinnati, OH, to manage environmental projects, particularly in brownfield redevelopment. The Opportunity


Tetra Tech, a leading environmental and management consulting firm, is seeking a mid-level geologist or environmental scientist to join our team in Cincinnati, Ohio to support various environmental projects throughout the Midwest, predominately within Ohio, focusing on brownfield redevelopment programs.




Position Summary


This position will support a variety of contracts, including federal, state, municipal, and commercial clients. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, with experience managing task orders or projects and the ability to work successfully both independently and in team settings.


Essential Job Functions

Support and manage environmental projects and task orders including Phase I and Phase II assessments; hydrogeological investigations; UST closure and corrective action investigations; and remedial actions.
Communicate and interact with project clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Complete field data collection activities, including soil, groundwater, and soil gas sampling.
Oversight and management of subcontractors during completion of geophysical surveys; drilling and installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, and soil gas probes; and remedial activities.
Support proposal and cost estimate development.
Interpret analytical data using spreadsheets and databases.
Prepare technical report deliverables, including data evaluation, interpretation, and presentation.

Mentor and train early career staff.

Required Qualifications


Bachelors or Masters Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field is required.
5-10 years of relavent professional experience.
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and 8-Hour refresher certifications.
Understanding of due diligence and brownfield redevelopment processes are a must.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and previous experience with completion and/or task order/project management of site investigations and remedial actions are required.
This position requires driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good standing is required.

Preferred Qualifications



Experience and knowledge of U.S. EPA, Ohio EPA VAP, and/or Ohio BUSTR are preferred, but not required.
Asbestos and/or lead certifications preferred, but not required.
Professional licenses or certifications such as Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer and/or Ohio VAP Certified Professional are preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements



Must be able to walk around project sites in all types of terrain and be physically able to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
Must be able to complete annual medical monitoring program.



Work Environment / Environmental Factors



Role responsibilities will require project site visits and field work up to approximately 40%, which could include overnight travel.
Site work may be completed outdoors within the U.S. during all seasons, including peak summer and winter conditions.
