General Manager - Renewable Energy | Germany-Based with Global Impact
• Location: Eschborn, Germany
• Full-Time | Startup Environment | Focus on Projects in Europe and Africa
A unique and strategic leadership opportunity has arisen for an accomplished professional to serve as General Manager, tasked with establishing and leading operations in Germany while overseeing the development and delivery of renewable energy projects across Europe and Africa.
The successful candidate will join a small yet globally active renewable energy organisation with a proven history of delivering over 3,000 MW of clean energy solutions across a range of technologies including solar, hydropower, wind, and transmission. With a 30-year track record and ambitions for significant growth, the company is now strengthening its presence in key international markets.
Client Profile: A renewable energy firm providing comprehensive services across project management, engineering, design, operations, and maintenance for energy infrastructure projects.
This role offers the rare opportunity to lead in a dynamic, startup-like environment-building local infrastructure, shaping strategic direction, and forging key commercial partnerships. Reporting directly to the Group CEO, the General Manager will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth, operational excellence, and market expansion.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the strategic direction and operational setup of the German entity, ensuring alignment with broader international objectives.
• Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities, including the preparation of high-impact proposals and participation in competitive tenders.
• Represent the organisation in high-level engagements with banks, government agencies, utilities, and development partners.
• Oversee the successful execution of energy infrastructure projects across multiple technologies and geographies.
• Ensure robust financial management, regulatory compliance, and operational discipline across all activities.
• Recruit, develop, and manage a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and inclusion.
Candidate Profile
• Minimum of 10 years' leadership experience within the energy, infrastructure, or engineering sectors.
• Demonstrated success in the development and delivery of renewable energy projects, including experience with project financing and public-private partnerships.
• Strong commercial and strategic capabilities, with excellent negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to thrive in entrepreneurial environments and to lead teams through complex operational challenges.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in German is highly desirable. Additional language skills (e.g. French, Spanish, or Portuguese) are an advantage.
• EU work authorization is essential.
What the Role Offers
• A defining leadership role in launching and growing operations in a greenfield market.
• The opportunity to contribute directly to the global clean energy transition and sustainable development goals.
• A flat organisational structure that values innovation, initiative, and international collaboration.
• Exposure to diverse stakeholders, including governments, financiers, and industry experts.
• Competitive remuneration, performance-based incentives, and long-term professional growth prospects.
This is more than a traditional leadership role-it is an opportunity to shape the future of a purpose-driven organisation with global impact. If you are a strategic thinker with a passion for clean energy and the ambition to build from the ground up, we invite you to apply.
