Fund Head

Edgegrowth is seeking a Fund Head in Gauteng, South Africa, to oversee the health and performance of a Multi Investor/Multi Asset class portfolio Fund. The role involves defining and executing the Fund's strategy, managing investment functions, building a deal pipeline, ensuring due diligence, and driving performance management across investee companies. The Fund Head will maintain investor relationships and uphold governance standards as part of the senior leadership team.

We are looking for a Fund Head to be the single point of accountability for the overall health, performance, and strategic direction of an assigned Multi Investor/ Multi Asset class portfolio Fund. This role integrates and leadsinvestmentfunctions across the fund value chainincluding:origination, deal execution, post-investment management, governance, and stakeholder engagement – to deliver against the Fund's mandate. The Fund Head ensures the Fund achieves its financial and impactobjectives,maintainsstrong investor relationships, andoperateswith the highest standards of governance and compliance asthesenior leadership role within the proposed fund-oriented structure reporting to the Chief of Investment Funds.

What You'll Do


Fund Strategy &Leadership


Define,ownand execute the Fund's strategy in alignment withthe investormandate, serving as the single point of accountability for overall Fund health and performance
Deliver onthe Fund's investment thesis, portfolio constructionapproachand value-creation priorities
Lead and integrate the Investing and PIM functions within the Fund tooperateas a single, cohesive team, managing resource planning,capacityand prioritisation
Represent the Fund in FUNDCO Forum; contribute to cross-Fund knowledge sharing and institutional capability building
Drive Fund optimisation –identifyand implement improvements to ways of work, costefficienciesand mandate refinements
Oversee Fundbudgeting, in conjunction with Finance team,and input into broader Ventures financial planning
Deal Origination & Pipeline


Build andmaintaina network of high-quality deal sources within the early-stage investment ecosystem, and oversee the Fund's deal pipelineinitiatives (including AI integration)to ensure a consistentand effectiveflow of quality opportunities
Direct the Investing team in crafting investment theses and screening decisions; motivate transactions to the deal team
Support Business Development interventions to attract new investors and grow AUMwithin the Fund, including attending investor meetings and contributing data and learnings from the Fund
Deal Execution Oversight


Provide final accountability for the quality of due diligence (commercial and financial), investment structuring,valuationsand legal documentation across the Fund
Review and approve investment reports; build Investment Committee credibility and confidence by successfully presenting investment opportunities
Oversee legal agreement draftingprocess,negotiationand execution, ensuringaccuratereflection of approved term sheets; manage effective transaction hand-over to the PIM team
Champion investment process improvement and efficiency within the Fund
Portfolio & Post Investment Management


Drive performance management across all investee companies in the Fund, ensuring delivery against financial and impact mandates
Oversee delivery of value-added support to portfolio companies, including operational diagnostics, strategy execution, capital raising, market access and special projects to unlock value
Responsible for stakeholder reporting, including portfolio valuations, Fund-level financialreportingand investment committee reporting
Participate in credit committees and portfolio-related strategic forums asrequired;assistin extracting maximum value and impact from the portfolio
Overseeexit strategydevelopment and execution for portfolio companies at theappropriate time
Governance, Compliance & Risk
Accountable for Fund-level governance, including governance forums, compliance rhythms and monitoring at investee,fundand portfolio levels
Ensureadherencetolegal compliance and risk management at Fund and portfolio level; oversee legal agreement reviews and apply lessons from existing portfolio companies
Ensure the Fundoperateswithin FAIS, regulatory and mandate requirements; oversee policy development and implementation relevant to the Fund
Drive inputs into Fund cash management and operational administration, supporting Finance-led budgeting
Investor & Stakeholder Management


Serve as the primary relationship owner for all Fund investors and key external stakeholders; responsible for investor relations, FundSteerCo,governanceand stakeholder reporting
Identifyand mitigate risks in investor/client relationships; ensure investorsremaininvested and commitments are delivered
Coordinate with Solutions Programme Managers for clients holding both a programme and a Fund investment
Team Leadership & PeopleDevelopment


Lead,coachand develop the Fund's Investing and PIM team members through mentoring, technicaltrainingand performance management relationships
Provide input on team structure,capacityand talent needs within the Fund; build a high-performing, collaborative team culture

RequirementsExperience


10+ years in venture capital, private equity,impact investing,or corporate finance, spanning both deal origination/execution and post-investment management
Demonstratedtrack recordof leading investment teams and investor relationshipsexperience
Experience in fund management, fundgovernanceand stakeholder/investor reporting
Background in small business advisory, strategy consulting or SME investingadvantageous
Leadership experience is essential
Qualifications


Relevant graduate degree in Finance, Business, Engineering,Lawor related field
CA(SA),CFAor MBA from ahighly-regardedinstitution strongly preferred
Outstanding academic record andtrack recordof performance
