The State of Oregon is seeking a Food Systems Specialist in Portland, OR, to develop and implement programs that enhance food security and promote equitable access to healthy food. The role involves research, community engagement, project management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to advance food justice. Develop and implement programs and policies that support the state's efforts to improve food security and promote equitable access to healthy food.
Conduct research and data analysis to inform food systems planning and policy development.
Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and farmers, to address food insecurity and advance food justice in Oregon.
Manage projects and initiatives related to sustainable food systems, including budgeting, timeline management, and reporting.
Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in food systems planning, public health, and environmental science to inform program and policy development.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to local communities, organizations, and individuals on sustainable food systems and food justice issues.
Develop and maintain partnerships with organizations and individuals working towards similar goals in the food systems sector.
Facilitate community engagement and outreach efforts to educate and engage the public on sustainable food systems and food justice issues.
Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of programs and policies related to food systems and make recommendations for improvement.
Represent the state in meetings, conferences, and other events related to sustainable food systems and food justice.
Work closely with other state agencies and departments to coordinate efforts and ensure alignment with statewide goals and initiatives.
Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to develop materials and strategies to promote sustainable food systems and food justice initiatives.
Stay informed on legislative and regulatory developments related to food systems and provide input on proposed policies and legislation.
Contribute to the development of grant proposals and assist in securing funding for food systems and food justice initiatives.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to food systems programs, policies, and initiatives.
