Job Description

The Technical Specialist, Fisheries position supports the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Fisheries Program at SCS. The successful candidate will interpret and implement the MSC Standard for sustainable fisheries worldwide. This role involves managing client relationships, conducting MSC assessments, and providing technical support to audit teams, clients, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
• Project Management: Manage a portfolio of fishery assessments, coordinate internal resources and external auditors, monitor project progress, and ensure deliverables meet established timelines.
• Auditing and Technical Oversight: Review scientific information related to fisheries impact, assess performance in line with the MSC Fisheries Standard, conduct technical reviews, and lead stakeholder consultation.
• Program Quality and Development: Support the MSC Fisheries Program in developing and maintaining program procedures and documents, participate in internal and external audits, and manage auditor contacts and qualifications.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in fisheries, marine conservation biology, natural resources, environmental management, or relevant field.
• 3+ years of experience in the fisheries sector, including management or research experience in marine conservation biology, fisheries science, or fisheries management.
• Experience leading teams and projects, mainly involving collaborative report deliverables and stakeholder engagement.
• Fluency in English, professional verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in business software.
• Strong organization, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills, as well as attention to detail, customer service, and teamwork orientation.
• Initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a changing environment.
