Financial Controller / Finance Manager (Construction Industry)


Position Overview


We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller with experience in the construction or service industry to take ownership of the companys financial operations while supporting strategic financial initiatives.

This role is responsible for day-to-day financial control, cash flow management, and job costing, while also assisting leadership with lender relations, capital planning, and financial strategy.

The ideal candidate is both operationally strong and strategically awaresomeone who can execute at a high level while contributing to the companys long-term financial direction.

Key Responsibilities


Financial Operations (Primary Focus)


Daily Financial Management


Monitor and report daily cash positionTrack incoming payments and outgoing obligationsMaintain accurate, real-time financial recordsAccounts Receivable & Collections


Ensure timely invoicing and billing accuracyActively manage collections and reduce outstanding receivablesMaintain AR aging reports and drive cash flow improvementsAccounts Payable & Vendor Management


Review and prioritize vendor paymentsManage payment schedules based on cash flowMaintain strong vendor relationships and communicationCash Flow & Forecasting


Develop and maintain weekly cash flow forecastsIdentify risks and recommend proactive solutionsEnsure alignment between receivables, payables, and payrollJob Costing & Financial Performance


Track job costs vs. estimatesIdentify margin erosion and cost overrunsPartner with operations to improve profitability Strategic Financial Support (Secondary Focus)


Lender & Financial Institution Support


Assist with lender requests, reporting, and documentationSupport line of credit, financing, and compliance requirementsPrepare financial packages for banks and partnersBonding & Capital Support


Assist in preparing financials for bonding requestsSupport documentation for surety and underwriting reviewsContribute to capital planning and funding readinessFinancial Planning & Analysis


Assist leadership with financial insights and reportingIdentify trends, risks, and opportunities within the businessSupport budgeting and forward planning initiativesCFO & Leadership Collaboration


Work alongside external CFO or financial advisorsProvide accurate data to support strategic decisionsHelp bridge the gap between financial strategy and executionQualifications


5+ years of experience in accounting or financeConstruction, electrical, or service-based industry experience REQUIREDStrong understanding of job costing, WIP, and project-based accountingExperience supporting lender relationships, financing, or bonding processes preferredProficiency in QuickBooks and ExcelStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to operate independently in a fast-paced environmentWhat Were Looking For
