JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Facilities Engineer1 assists the Facilities Engineering Manager in maintaining and improving critical building systems and infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and compliance. This role is ideal for experienced professionals from both military or civilian backgrounds who have expertise in facilities maintenance, engineering, and troubleshooting. The Facilities Engineer will support the maintenance, repair, and optimization of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems while ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance & Support
• Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure reliability of facility assets.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues, including system failures and power outages, to minimize downtime.
• Support the testing and maintenance of backup power systems (generators, UPS) for critical infrastructure.

Project Assistance & Facility Improvements
• Support facility improvement projects, upgrades, and energy efficiency initiatives as directed by the Facilities Engineering Manager.
• Work with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to implement repairs and enhancements.
• Assist in collecting data for process improvement initiatives such as Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Safety, Compliance & Environmental Standards
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other applicable regulations.
• Assist in conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, and compliance audits.
• Follow safety procedures and support emergency response plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to compliance, maintenance, and inspections.

Vendor & Team Support
• Assist in coordinating maintenance activities with third-party vendors and service providers.
• Provide technical support and assistance to maintenance personnel.
• Help ensure vendors and contractors follow safety and operational procedures.

Work Environment & On-Call Expectations:
• Requires working in industrial, commercial, or secure facility environments.
• Must be available for on-call rotations and emergency response situations.
• May involve physical work, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
• Some travel may be required for inspections, training, or project support.
