Apply today and be more with Baker.\nSummaryThe Environmental Technician supports the Environmental Manager in conducting construction site inspections, field audits, environmental audits, etc. The Environmental Technician helps to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promotes safe working conditions. The role involves assessing and monitoring potential environmental hazards and implementing measures to minimize or eliminate those hazards. The Environmental Technician also educates co-workers on safe practices, procedures and implements programs to reduce the company’s environmental impact and promotes the Company s IIF culture. S/he is expected to spend a minimum of 80% of time in the field observing and coaching co-workers on proper environmental compliance. Serves as a resource to co-workers by answering questions about environmental issues. Embeds self with project teams and strategically dives in using a hands-on approach to improve project safety, quality, and productivity (SQP) and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
Reads, interprets, and applies all Environmental regulations to the scope of workAssists field supervision and Environmental Manager in the implementation of project specific environmental plansImplements required environmental records such as chemical inventories, air permit determinations, waste profiles, environmental release investigations, etc.Periodically conducts field/environmental audits of project siteAssists in cleanup of environmental release (spills, equipment leaks, etc.)Responsible for the investigation of job site environmental release incidents to identify the root cause and communicates that information to site project management teamMay participate in the development of project incident trends and leading indicator analyses, planning and implementation of corrective actionsRecognizes and helps eliminate job site hazards while conducting field walks and champions Incident and Injury Free (IIF) environment for projectChampions compliance with environmental rules and regulationsSets example by following safety guidelines including but not limited to wearing PPE on jobs, staying aware of surroundings, etc.Attends and participates in Tool Box Talks and provides input for Mission Task AnalysesComplies with proper safety proceduresRequirements
Bachelor s degree in STEM field or Occupational Safety and Health, or related field from an accredited college or university or 5 years of construction related experienceProficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPointMust have the ability to exert physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 20 poundsAbility to read and comprehend environmental procedures,Ability to comprehend and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formAbility to communicate to co-workers in a team environment (for example Toolbox Talks, safety meetings, etc.)Ability to present information to all levels of co-workers throughout the projectAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situationsAbility to analyze and compute mathematical values, and the ability to understand, customize and modify spreadsheetsAbility to work with co-workers to integrate safe means and environmentally compliant methods to accomplish tasksAbility to multi-task and interface with safety, operations, and risk managementAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to recognize jobsite hazards/unsafe trends and apply solutionsAbility to maneuver in and out of job site trailers and various stages of job site terrainsNice-to-haves
Ability to use Adobe and Bluebeam preferredWorking knowledge of common regulations for concrete construction industry
