Job Description

Intermountain Health is hiring an Environmental Services Technician in Murray, UT. The role involves cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining hospital facilities, including changing curtains and operating UV lights. The position requires clear communication, ladder use, and adherence to safety standards. It is a full-time, day shift job (Monday to Friday) with responsibilities that ensure a safe and sanitary environment for patients. Experience in housekeeping is preferred.
Job Description:
This position is responsible for washing, folding and storing curtains. Changing curtains in patient areas across the hospital using a ladder. Assist with operating UV lights in contact and contact bleach rooms.

This position is responsible for performing general housekeeping tasks to maintain the facility and associated buildings in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital and Joint Commission standards.
• Pay Rate: Depending on experience
• Shift - Full-time Days (40 hrs/wk) Monday - Friday (11:00am - 7:30pm)

• Additional Details:
Must communicate clearly and be able to follow directions.
Must be comfortable using and climbing on a ladder for curtain changes. Must understand how to use the washer and dryer.
Must be comfortable operating the UV light.

The Environmental Services Tech (Housekeeper) is an integral member of the Intermountain team. They provide a comfortable and safe healing environment for our patients by performing comprehensive housekeeping tasks that ensure clean, sanitary and attractive facilities. They follow standard procedures in the safe disposal of infectious waste and trash and safely use cleaning chemicals in accordance with Joint Commission and OSHA standards. They use supplies appropriately and effectively and report problems with equipment and with the facility in an appropriate and timely manner. The Environmental Services Tech (Housekeeper) has the opportunity to make a difference in the patients’ lives every day through their courteous and efficient service. They clean and disinfect assigned areas using department cleaning procedures

Essential Functions
• Clean and disinfect assigned areas using department cleaning procedures.
• Uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
• Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash.
• Handles and cleans up emergency spills per department guideline, Joint commission, and OSHA standards.
• Follows all infection prevention practices (i.e. proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Maintains work and storage areas following established policy and procedures to ensure safety

Qualifications
• Demonstrated communication skills to include differentiating color-coded labels and/or chemicals as well as following written and/or verbal directions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed to meet the needs of the department.
• Demonstrated professional housekeeping experience. (Preferred)

Physical Requirements
• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs
• Frequent interactions with customers require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$16.83 - $21.88
