Job Description
The Environmental Services Aide at Brown University Health in Newport, RI is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment through various housekeeping duties. The role requires adherence to hospital policies, customer service standards, and participation in safety education. Candidates should possess the ability to follow instructions and have effective communication skills. This position is not remote and involves physical tasks within the hospital setting.
SUMMARY:
Perform a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain the Hospital in a clean, aseptic, safe and orderly condition. Perform other related duties, as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates understanding of Hospital's Mission, vision, and values.
Demonstrates understanding of job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment plan.
Complies with department and hospital policies and procedures.
Reviews department policies and procedures.
Reviews hospital policies and procedures.
Demonstrates a commitment towards meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to our Customer Service Standards.
Completes mandatory Safety Management Education Hospital-wide.
Demonstrates a commitment towards meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to our Customer Service Standards.
Completes mandatory Safety Management Education (Hospital-wide, Department-specific, Job-specific)
Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
Participates in codes.
Cleans, dusts, and disinfects all above-floor items, such as light fixtures, ceilings, vents, televisions, picture frames, shelves, furniture, walls, doors, door frames, windows, and windowsills.
Cleans and disinfects bathrooms and bathroom items such as toilets, urinals, sinks, tubs, showers, etc.
Replenishes soap, toilet tissue, and paper towel supplies as needed.
Replaces sharps containers as needed in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Dust mops and damp mops floors on a consistent basis according to department procedures.
Performs discharge cleaning according to procedure.
Uses supplies, equipment, and solutions according to policies and manufacturers' recommendations.
Performs isolation cleaning according to procedures, utilizing aseptic techniques.
Performs vacuuming, spot cleaning and shampooing of carpets according to procedure.
Performs spot cleaning and shampooing of upholstered furniture according to procedur
Collects, transports, and disposes the following waste categories in accordance with procedures:
General waste
Medical/Regulated waste
Chemical waste
Recyclable waste
Confidential shredding.
Follows established cleaning task assignment sheets and frequency schedule as established.
Delivers clean linen and picks up soiled linen according to procedures.
Replaces mattresses, draperies, venetian blinds, shades, and cubicle curtains as needed.
Moves and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly manner, utilizing proper body mechanics.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.
The level of education normally attained in courses at secondary school levels.
Effective interpersonal communication skills.
EXPERIENCE:
One to three months on the job training to proficiently perform all basic duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT ANDPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit/ squat 1-3 hours per day, stand and walk 3-7 hours per day, lift 10-35 lbs with good body mechanics, twist, and bend moderately. Must be able to use both hands/wrists and perform work with moderate deviation and fine motor skills. Far vision must be accurate at 20/40, near vision at 20/20 with accurate depth perception, hearing not essential function.

Pay Range:
$17.00-$25.82
