Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site 3 days per week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. In this position you can expect to work on site at 201 W. Colfax Ave a minimum of 3 days per week.

As the Environmental Public Health Analyst Associate, you will be responsible for data management, descriptive reporting, and support for evaluation activities primarily for the Residential Health (RH) Program within the Public Health Investigations Division (PHI). Duties may include, but will not be limited to, identification of data needs; development of data systems and reporting; and collaborative evaluation design and data collection processes.
This position will be integral to PHI evaluation and planning activities, which support the evidence-based development and impact of the RH Program. This position will be responsible for identification and analysis of information and data primarily related to the RH program and priorities; providing technical assistance and support to program staff and management; and dissemination of knowledge to leadership and program staff. The position will actively assist PHI and partners in working to achieve greater health equity in residential spaces for all Denver residents. This position must possess the ability to work with multiple partners including other city agencies, tenant unions, and other community advocacy groups. Responsibilities will also consist of researching and analyzing residential health and housing related data to better inform DDPHE’s public health response, intervention, and support of Denver residents. This individual will be responsible for making data-driven recommendations to management regarding updates to regulations or policies in order to incorporate this work into existing field activities for public health investigators.
Specifically, as the Environmental Public Health Associate Analyst – Residential Health and Housing, you will:
• Research and analyze local and state residential health and housing data to inform public health action in underserved communities.
• Grow and develop existing programming and research ways to incorporate new regulations, policies and programming to expand the scope and breadth of the residential health and housing program within PHI. Provide limited similar support to other programs in PHI.
• Manage data sets for the Residential Health Program and other programs in PHI as needed. Understand and select from community data sets. Develop data collection instruments and documentation. Collect and code data. Conduct quality assurance checks.
• Participate in and act as a consultant to colleagues on continuous quality improvement, monitoring, and program development, for instance, through development of logic models, consideration of equity and data methods, and other tools to evaluate effectiveness and find opportunities for development and innovation.
• Analyze and integrate data from multiple primary and secondary sources. Perform descriptive statistical analyses. Contribute to research and evaluation activities, which may include mixed methods data collection, management, and analysis.
• Develop charts, figures, and narrative for briefs and reports. Use automated systems and tools to support reporting and communication, which may include development and maintenance of databases and dashboards.
• Take the lead on pulling data and public records associated with Colorado Open Records Act requests and media inquiries in order to fulfill these requests.
• Participate in community engagement and stakeholder efforts to convey data and trends and to receive input on data gaps and opportunities.
• Support the management team in assessing administrative citations for non-compliance of City codes and regulations and finding ways to streamline that process.
• Along with all department staff, this position will actively participate on an emergency preparedness and response team to support DDPHE’s responsibilities outlined in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan. This may require being ‘on-call’ from time to time to help respond to emergencies. Additional training commensurate with assigned duties will be provided.

• Experience and proficiency working in Accela and Power BI
• Bilingual Spanish skills
Required Minimum Qualifications
• Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, or in a related field based on a specific position.
• Experience Requirement: One (1) year of professional experience conducting research and analysis on a variety of environmental or public health issues or conducting environmental or public health inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
• Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
• License/Certifications: None.
