About the position

The Environmental Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of field inspections of both public and privately owned facilities to ensure compliance with environmental laws. This role involves managing a team, conducting inspections, responding to emergencies, and preparing detailed reports on compliance assessments. The position requires strong management skills, effective communication, and the ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities
• Plan and direct resources for field inspections of permitted facilities.

• Supervise professional and administrative support staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.

• Monitor required emission testing to ensure compliance with regulations.

• Investigate citizen complaints against industrial sites and individuals.

• Respond to industrial and transportation accidents and other emergencies.

• Direct or conduct special projects as assigned by management.

• Prepare detailed technical reports on compliance assessments and violations.

• Conduct on-site scientific inspections and evaluate findings for compliance with pollution control regulations.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or environmental science.

• Two years of progressively responsible experience in pollution control-related activities or sanitation inspections.

• Knowledge of state and federal pollution control regulations and investigation standards.

• Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates.

• Ability to conduct scientific inspections and prepare compliance reports.
