About the position

TRC is seeking an Environmental / NEPA Specialist to join its Planning, Permitting, and Licensing practice. This role involves providing environmental support for projects, particularly in relation to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA). The specialist will work on transportation projects, preparing and reviewing technical documents to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and facilitating project advancement through various governmental approval processes.

Responsibilities
• Provide environmental planning expertise pertaining to NEPA for federal agencies to facilitate project permitting and planning.

• Support project managers to deliver tasks on time.
,
• Contribute to multi-disciplinary teams in completing environmental reviews for various project scales.
,
• Prepare project-related environmental documentation, including environmental impact statements and assessments.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science/engineering, environmental planning, environmental policy, natural resources, or related field.

• 5+ years of experience in environmental planning specific to transportation projects.
,
• Experience preparing technical review and documentation for transportation-related projects.
,
• Knowledge of environmental compliance and permitting laws and regulations.
,
• Ability to apply environmental planning in support of state and federal regulatory agencies.
,
• In-depth knowledge of the Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Water Act, or Clean Air Act is preferred.
,
• Experience preparing technical documents for NEPA compliance.

Nice-to-haves
• Knowledge of local, regional, and state/local planning and zoning processes, preferably in Massachusetts.

• Strong technical/scientific report writing skills.
