Environment America is seeking an Environmental Advocacy Director in Cheyenne, WY, to lead initiatives focused on conservation, clean energy, and waste reduction. Key Responsibilities

Program Development: Collaborate in shaping policy priorities through research and strategic messaging aimed at environmental protection in Wyoming.Coalition Building: Forge connections with diverse organizations and community groups to broaden support for our initiatives, even among those with differing perspectives.Event Organization: Host webinars, community gatherings, and public meetings while enlisting volunteers to foster active participation.Media Engagement: Create opportunities for media coverage by organizing events and crafting opinion pieces, while also growing our campaign’s social media presence.Advocacy: Articulate compelling arguments for environmental initiatives to decision-makers through lobbying, public testimonies, and impactful written communications. Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders at the state and federal levels.Fundraising: Develop grant proposals, build rapport with foundation staff, and engage individual donors to enhance our campaign resources.Team Growth: Identify and recruit talented candidates to join our team, while effectively managing interns to maximize campaign impact.Qualifications

You are:

Driven by a commitment to environmental advocacy and adept at using grassroots techniques to secure campaign victories.Experienced in campaign advocacy or grassroots organization with a minimum of 5 years in a relevant role; candidates with 2+ years and advanced degrees may also be considered.An exceptional communicator with strong writing and public speaking skills, possessing a background in securing media coverage.Creative and proficient in navigating complex issues, with a strategic mindset ready to capitalize on new opportunities.Personable and empathetic, skilled in building access and collaborations, even with those who hold differing viewpoints.Organized and capable of managing multiple legislative and administrative tasks concurrently.Deeply connected to Wyoming, ideally living in or having strong ties to the state.Additional Helpful Experience:

Prior experience within state legislature, government positions, or environmental advocacy organizations is a plus but not mandatory.Skills in fundraising, particularly experience with grant-seeking from charitable foundations.Compensation and Benefits

The starting annual salary for candidates with 2-7 years of relevant experience ranges from $39,750 to $48,000. Candidates with less experience can expect to be on the lower end, while those with more extensive relevant experience may be on the higher end.
