Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. is hiring an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist/Geologist in Wall Township, NJ. Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES), an industry leader with a reputation for excellence in providing environmental consulting, engineering, compliance, and technical field services to clients in diverse market sectors, seeks an entry level Geologist or Environmental Scientist to support fieldwork and environmental remediation project activities in Wall Township, NJ. We are seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist/Geologist that will play a crucial role in supporting our environmental assessment and remediation projects. This position involves conducting fieldwork, collecting samples, and analyzing data to evaluate environmental conditions and impacts. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior scientists and engineers to develop strategies for environmental protection and compliance. Additionally, this role will contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations that communicate findings to clients and stakeholders. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that our projects meet regulatory standards while promoting sustainable practices.
Responsibilities
• Conduct field investigations and collect soil, water, and air samples for analysis
• Assist in the preparation of environmental assessments and reports
• Analyze data using various software tools and methodologies
• Support senior staff in developing remediation plans and environmental management strategies
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and execution
• Researches information relating to identifying geological formations and soil delineation studies and prepares reports and geological maps based on the findings
• Participates in the identification of viable remedial solutions consistent with all Federal, state, and local regulations
• Participate in the completion of well canvasses, well searches and sensitive receptor evaluations
• Participates in the coordination and scheduling of field events
• Performs supervisory oversight of subcontractors during field events
Skills
The required skills for this position include:
• Strong analytical abilities, utilized in interpreting data collected from fieldwork and laboratory analyses
• Effective communication skills to prepare reports and presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Attention to detail, critical when conducting field investigations and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations
• A combination of technical knowledge and practical skills to thrive in a collaborative and dynamic work environment
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field
• Valid driver’s license
• Basic understanding of environmental regulations and compliance standards
• Up to 4 years of experience with field sampling techniques and laboratory analysis or related experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Internship or relevant work experience in environmental consulting or research
• Familiarity with GIS software and data analysis tools
• Certification or coursework in environmental assessment or remediation
• Soil and groundwater sampling experience
• 40 HR OSHA Hazwoper
