Fervo Energy Co. is seeking an Enterprise Architect in Nevada, IA, to lead the design and implementation of technology and business architecture. The role focuses on aligning IT systems with business goals, driving innovation, and ensuring system scalability. Responsibilities include strategic planning, technology governance, system integration, and data governance. The position reports to the Sr. Director of IT & Cybersecurity and emphasizes customer service and support.
The Enterprise Architect will lead the design, development, and implementation of our organization’s overarching technology and business architecture.

Description The Enterprise Architect will lead the design, development, and implementation of our organization’s overarching technology and business architecture. As an Enterprise Architect, you will ensure alignment between IT systems and business objectives, driving innovation, scalability, and efficiency across the enterprise. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Information Technology & Cybersecurity.
Responsibilities Customer Focus: Institute a core focus on Customer Service and delivery of excellent support. The culture of customer service and the desire to help users must be foremost in this role. It should be passed onto the rest of the team as a requirement, and it must be ingrained in the way we operate.
Strategic Planning & Alignment: Develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Technology Governance: Establish and enforce architectural standards, principles, and guidelines. Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and systems to support long-term organizational goals. Maintain and manage all relevant documentation, credentials, licensing, etc aligned to Fervo Systems/Platforms.
System Integration & Scalability: Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable IT systems. Responsible for both design and support of systems & platforms leveraged across On-Prem, private cloud, and other aligned SaaS solutions. Identify and address integration challenges, ensuring seamless interconnectivity across platforms.
System Selection, Design, and Implementation: Lead the architecture and deployment of infrastructure systems, including servers, storage, networks, and cloud solutions. Responsible for orchestration of platform upgrades, including in-place and swing migrations as required for effective support across the application, database, and messaging tiered solutions.
OT Knowledge and Support: Support the IT/OT integration of our assets. Work with other teams across the organization to design, test, secure and enable the proper use of OT data and Systems.
Data Governance and Integration design: Support, design, educate the organization on its quest to utilize data as a differentiator in the marketplace. Evaluate opportunities for improvements, synergies, savings, risk mitigation of current and proposed systems and architectures.
Risk Management: Assess risks and develop mitigation strategies for technology investments and decisions. Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements. Responsible to function as SME or engage requisite Vendor/Solutions expertise across as required for troubleshooting, triage, and incident management/remediation within responsible domain/stack. Responsible for solution delivery of disaster recovery capable platforms calibrated to Business Continuity Plans and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
Stakeholder Collaboration: Responsible for assisting organizational stakeholders across all groups and functions with design, review, evaluation, and strategy of architectures; delivering integration across delivered cloud services – tenant/subscription model, or other types of solutions. Chair sessions to collaborate with Cloud/Network/Security leadership and Application teams weekly/quarterly to ensure systems are meeting security minimum requirements, tracking resource consumption estimates, and spend is aligned to budget/costing forecast – review plan and adjust as required to avoid exceeding annual thresholds/expense targets.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends to identify opportunities for innovation. Regularly review and refine the enterprise architecture to ensure optimal performance, security, cost, governance, strategy.
Future Team Leadership: As the role evolves, the successful candidate will be responsible for building and leading a team of direct reports.
Qualifications 5-10 years of relevant experience in IT architecture, including experience in enterprise-level design and system integration.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Proven track record of leading large-scale, complex IT initiatives
Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman)
Proficiency in cloud computing, data architecture, and application development
Experience with modern tech stacks and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, microservices, APIs)
Preferred Certifications: TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar relevant certifications
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively communicate and present security risk concepts with non-technical stakeholders and cross-functional teams
Location Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX with satellite offices in the Bay Area, CA, Golden, CO and Reno, NV. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at the Houston office will be required. Some travel is required for this position.
