Job Description: The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for financial transactions related to vendor payments, ensuring vendor invoices are accurate, routing invoices for internal review, and processing payments to suppliers. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and experience with process improvements and policy enforcement.

Key Responsibilities:
• Invoicing: Apply invoices to purchase orders and route them for internal approval.
• AP Inbox Monitoring: Upload invoices from the AP inbox to procure-to-pay software and respond to internal and external inquiries.
• Vendor Statement Reconciliation: Match vendor statements to company records and resolve discrepancies.
• Data Entry: Enter invoice details into procure-to-pay software.
• Maintenance of Records: Maintain accurate and organized records of accounts payable transactions.
• Communication: Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve billing issues or clarify invoices.
• Compliance: Adhere to company policies and accounting standards while assisting in implementing internal controls.
• Financial Reconciliation: Reconcile A/P sub-ledger to the general ledger, vendor balances, and intercompany accounts.
• GAAK and Financial Reporting: Understand GAAP and its impact on financial statements, accruals, and expense recognition.

Requirements:
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably in the renewable energy industry.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Process improvement and policy enforcement experience.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Project accounting experience is a plus.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Will to work from our headquarters in Charlottesville, VA.
