Electrical Engineer
Our client is looking for an entry-level Electrical Engineer to join our team in developing and optimizing solar tracker controllers. As a member of our client's engineering team, you will play a role in designing, testing, validating, and implementing solar tracker control systems, including tracker controllers, sensors, and the main Array Controller.
We're seeking a candidate with a solid grounding in electrical engineering principles, a strong interest in renewable energy, and a willingness to learn. You'll collaborate with senior engineers, software and firmware developers, electrical engineering technicians, and other departments to bring innovative solar tracker control systems to production and beyond.
• *Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Support the design, development, and testing of solar tracker controllers, ensuring designs meet performance and safety standards. Assist with system requirements and implementation documentation.
- Circuit Design: Help create circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, and PCB layouts for solar tracking systems using tools like Altium. Conduct circuit simulations using LTspice or MATLAB and summarize the results in clear, concise reports.
- System Integration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate solar tracker controllers with sensors and motor drive systems. Assist firmware engineers in developing hardware and firmware interface documentation, and support the creation of documentation for cloud monitoring systems.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Perform electrical testing, troubleshoot issues, and validate prototypes and production units. Document findings clearly and effectively. Be familiar with working in lab environments and using lab tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, and handheld tools (e.g., cutting pliers, crimping tools).
- Firmware and Software: Assist in developing and optimizing embedded systems, including firmware programming and real-time control algorithms for solar tracking devices.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze test data to improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user guides.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements.
• *Qualifications:**
- Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field (BSEE or BSEET from an accredited institution).
- Strong grasp of electrical engineering principles.
- Willingness to learn, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience: 0-1 year of professional experience in electrical design, renewable energy, or control systems (internships, co-ops, or coursework may be considered in place of professional experience).
• *Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of circuit design, electrical components, and power systems for low and/or high voltage applications.
- Proficiency in performing engineering calculations (e.g., load summaries, breaker sizing, voltage drop, fault current).
- Familiarity with lab tools (e.g., power supplies, function generators, soldering irons, logic analyzers, network analyzers).
- Understanding of the NFPA 70E National Electrical Code.
- Experience with microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators.
- Proficiency with CAD tools for schematic design (e.g., Altium).
- Familiarity with programming languages like C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.
- Hands-on experience with testing equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
• *Soft Skills:**
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• *Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience with embedded systems or motor control systems.
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and industry trends.
- Basic understanding of control systems and algorithms for solar tracking applications.
- Familiarity with solar photovoltaic systems and solar trackers is a plus.
- Experience with simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, or PSpice.
